Right to Privacy is recognised as a fundamental right of the citizen. Protection of personal data from misuse is important for protecting this right. The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 recognises the need to protect personal data. Act received the assent of the President on 11th August, 2023. Act will come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions.
